In response to “significant public interest” from folks like you, the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors will discuss whether to take action on Assembly Bill 2494 at their next regular meeting on March 24th. This bill would remove the commercial logging mandate for California’s demonstration state forests, bringing the state closer to its climate goals.
The Mendocino Trail Stewards write in strong support of AB 2494, and we ask the Committee to move this bill forward without delay. Changing the mandate of Jackson Demonstration State Forest has been the central mission of our organization since we were founded in 2020. AB 2494 is the bill we have been working toward.
Last Friday, Assemblymember Chris Rogers introduced AB2494, a bill that would end the commercial logging mandate of JDSF.
